SLV Water District Appoints Alina Layng, Filling Vacancy

During their August 1, 2024 board meeting, the San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD) appointed Boulder Creek resident Alina Layng to fill a board vacancy. Layng will serve the remainder of the term left vacant by director Jayme Ackemann who resigned in June prior to moving to the Central Valley. Layng was appointed following public notice of the open position. She received a three to one vote by the sitting Board of Directors.

Layng has been involved with the District since 2021, serving on board’s Environmental Committee in 2021 and the Engineering and Environmental Committee in 2022 and 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, specializing in Marine Biology, and has worked as an environmental scientist with experience working in scientific data collection and marine fisheries.

Director Layng’s partial term will expire in November. Her seat will be up for election in November for a new four-year term for which she will be eligible to run.
