Winter Solstice in Boulder Creek

Winter Solstice in Boulder Creek

Boulder Creek local Robert Staton captured the last full moon of 2021 as he was leaving Wild Roots Market in downtown Boulder Creek. Native Americans called this the “cold moon,” welcoming the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere on December 21, the Winter Solstice.

Staton used his trusty Samsung Z Flip 3 cellphone cam to take the snap. Seeming to adorn the top of the Boulder Creek town tree lit for the season, what a glorious photo on a magnificent frosty evening in the Santa Cruz Mountains!
