Teen Public Art Workshop with Artist Lea de Wit | October 21, 2023
Felton librarian Jackie Danziger invites local teens to leave their mark at the Felton Branch Library. The branch has partnered with Santa Cruz Public Libraries for an exclusive Teen Public Art Workshop on October 21 with artist Lea de Wit. Participating teens will create a public art installation that will be a permanent feature in the library’s Teen Room.
“De Wit is renowned for her stunning public art installations at Felton Branch and Felton Nature Discovery Park, artist Lea de Wit is set to lead this innovative program, igniting the artistic sparks within our teen community. Together with our Advisory Council of Teens, participants will embark on a creative journey to produce artwork that not only beautifies our teen room but also reflects the imagination and talents of our young artists,” Danziger said in a press release.
Teens have an opportunity to log volunteer service hours by joining the branch Advisory Council of Teens for this project. Participants will also enjoy complimentary pizza, make new friends, and collectively craft a public art piece. Danziger notes that along with fostering creativity, the project can serve as an enhancement to resumes and college applications. No previous art experience is required.
