Santa Cruz County Moves to Orange Tier March 31

Effective Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Santa Cruz County will move into the Orange Tier (Tier 3) of California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy color-coded, tiered system for loosening restrictions based on improving COVID-19 transmission rates.

Under the Orange Tier, many restrictions will be lifted, and sectors which were not allowed to open can now resume operations. Retail establishments may operate at full capacity. Restaurants, movie theaters, museums and places of worship, may increase indoor operations to 50% capacity.

Bars, breweries and distilleries may resume outdoor operations, wineries may resume indoor operations at 25% capacity or 100 people (whichever is fewer), and gyms and fitness centers may increase indoor capacity to 25%. Indoor pools may open.

Amusement parks, indoor entertainment centers such as bowling alleys, and live-audience outdoor events may open with modifications. On April 1, amusement parks may allow all in-state visitors with capacity limited to 25%.
