Crews at Big Basin Redwoods State Park have built a new ADA-compliant bridge along the Skyline to Sea Trail. The project is part of reconnecting Big Basin Redwoods State Park to Castle Rock State Park and the regional trail network from the park’s main day-use area to China Grade Road and beyond to Castle Rock. “We’re proud to take one more step toward accessibility, inclusion, and connection with nature,” park staff said in a statement. An additional bridge has been restored along Opal Creek connecting visitors to the Hihn Hammond connector trail from Redwood Loop Trail.
Big Basin is open for limited day-use access from 8am to sunset. Reservations are encouraged. Visit the Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks site at thatsmypark.org/parks-and-beaches/big-basin-redwoods-state-park for more information.
