North County Democrats to Hold Endorsement Forum for November Election
The Democratic Club of North Santa Cruz County will host an endorsement forum on Tuesday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Santa Margarita Community Room at the Scotts Valley Water District, 2 Civic Center Drive, Scotts Valley. The community room is on the lower level of the district offices. The public is invited.
Candidates and measure advocates will give brief presentations and take questions. Democratic candidates for the Scotts Valley City Council, the Scotts Valley Water District Board, and the San Lorenzo Valley School District Board are scheduled to appear.
Three ballot measures will also be discussed:
- Measure G — Scotts Valley Mayor Donna Lind will explain the city measure to raise the transient occupancy tax from 11% to 13%.
- Measure E — Fifth District County Supervisor Monica Martinez will present the countywide half-cent sales and use tax increase.
- Measure D — Dan Haifley will discuss the measure restricting onshore facilities that support offshore drilling.
The Santa Cruz County Democratic Central Committee is joining the forum and will consider endorsements for the same candidates and measures at this meeting, sparing candidates a second round of appearances.
The Democratic Club of North Santa Cruz County (DCNSCC) is a chartered Democratic club in California. Its mission is to support and further the goals and ideals of the Democratic Party. Members come primarily from Boulder Creek, Brookdale, Ben Lomond, Felton, and Scotts Valley, though any registered Democrat in Santa Cruz County is welcome to join.
