What You Need to Know to vote in the November 8, 2022 General Election

The Santa Cruz County Elections Department is located at 701 Ocean St, Room 310, Santa Cruz. The office is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Phone 831-454-2060 for more information. 

Register to vote online at by October 24. You’ll need your California driver’s license or ID card, date of birth, and the last four digits of your social security number. You can request a Voter Registration Card be mailed to you by calling the Elections office at 831-454-2060. Visit to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot.

September 29 – October 10: Voter Information Guides have been mailed to all registered voters.

October 10: Vote-by-Mail ballots have been mailed to all registered voters.

You may also drop off your ballot inside at one of the locations below or authorize someone you trust to return it.

October 10: In Person Voting Locations are open:
Santa Cruz – Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections, 701 Ocean St., Room 310
Watsonville – Watsonville City Clerk’s Office, 275 Main St., 4th Floor

October 24: Last day to register to vote in the general election.

October 25 to November 8: Same day voter registration – voters may register and vote a provisional ballot during the 14 days prior to the November 8 election.

October 29 to November 8: These additional polling locations will be open.
