SMGWA Seeks Well Owner Representative for Board Vacancy

The Santa Margarita Groundwater Agency (SMGWA) has an opening on its Board of Directors and is looking for a Well Owner Alternate Representative to fill it.

SMGWA was established in 2017 to manage groundwater sustainability in the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley areas under California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. This is a chance to have a real voice in how our local groundwater is managed for years to come.

To be eligible, you must own, manage, or be served by a well — domestic, small water system, or irrigation — located within the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin. The term is three years, the time commitment is roughly 5–10 hours per quarter including some evenings, and the position is unpaid.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, connected to their community, and brings knowledge or experience relevant to groundwater management. No prior board experience required — just a genuine interest in protecting our local water supply.

Applications are due Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 5 p.m. Visit www.smgwa.org to learn more. Find the pdf downloadable application at smgwa.org/media/PrivateWellOwners/smgwa-pwo-application-packet.pdf
