Mountain Sangha Yoga Studio Opens in Boulder Creek

By Julie Horner

Yoga and Pilates instructor Shanon Farney has brought her vision to fruition. She and business partner Charmaine BuenoDeVivo, a fellow Boulder Creek resident and mindful movement instructor and nutritionist have opened Mountain Sangha yoga, Pilates, and dance community. Located on the south end of historic downtown Boulder Creek, the studio is tucked into a quiet business center on Highway 9 known locally as “The Barn.” Shanon and Charmaine are active learners who have created a welcoming and evolving safe space where people of every walk of life can assemble together to study the art of health and wellness and touch base with self-care. “Sangha” in the Sanskrit and Pāli languages is the third element, or “jewel,” of Buddhism.

Mountain Sangha offers a wide range of movement classes including hot yoga, hot Pilates, vinyasa, hatha, and yin gentle yoga, and mixed flow. The team of dedicated practitioners also hosts unique cardio workouts like barre fusion movement, dance, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT); and guest instructors lead sound-work, breathwork, and qigong workshops tailored to the Santa Cruz Mountains lifestyle. The studio is clean and warm with plenty of natural light and is equipped with props like bolsters, blocks, and straps, and there are extra mats if you forget yours. Enjoy the hand-painted mural by Boulder Creek artist Rachel Bollengier while you’re there.
