Highway 9 Near Boulder Creek to Close Overnight July 1

Drivers traveling Highway 9 north of Boulder Creek should plan ahead for a full overnight road closure on Wednesday, July 1.

The closure runs from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. at Kings Creek Bridge, between Pool Drive and Primavera/Old County Highway. During that time, crews will be setting new precast girders as part of the southbound bridge replacement. Neighbors should expect some noise through the night.

Travelers can detour via Highway 17. Signs will be posted in advance to guide drivers through the affected area, but allow extra travel time.

By the morning of July 2, the road will return to one-way signalized traffic control, operating 24 hours a day.

About the Project

This closure is part of the Highway 9 San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek Bridge Replacement Project, located north of Boulder Creek. Both bridges are being fully replaced to improve safety for the traveling public. Work is currently in the first phase, focusing on the southbound lanes.

The two bridge sites are located at post miles 15.41–15.55 (Kings Creek Bridge) and 13.58–13.69 (San Lorenzo River Bridge).

Additional overnight closures are expected as the project continues. Updates will be shared as new closures are scheduled.
