Felton Sidewalk Project: Caltrans Town Hall Set for October 22 at SLV High

Residents who want to learn more about the pedestrian safety work underway in Felton will get a chance to hear directly from Caltrans this week.

Santa Cruz County 5th District Supervisor Monica Martinez is hosting a town hall on Thursday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at San Lorenzo Valley High School (7105 Highway 9, Felton). The focus is the State Route 9 Felton Safety Improvements project, better known locally as the “sidewalk project.”

What the project will do

Once complete, the project will add a sidewalk along Highway 9 between the SLV tri-campus and the Graham Hill Road intersection. The goal is a safer route for students, families and anyone else who walks this stretch of road.

What to expect at the town hall

Caltrans will walk through the project’s history and purpose, share current updates and upcoming timelines, and cover other information the community should know. Caltrans will also give a high-level overview of other projects planned or underway in the San Lorenzo Valley.

Representatives from the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District and the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission will also be part of the conversation.

Bring your questions

Attendees can ask questions and share feedback directly with Caltrans during a Q&A session, or talk one-on-one with representatives at an information table. Light refreshments will be provided.

Can’t make it in person?

The town hall will be livestreamed on Supervisor Martinez’s Facebook page, and a recording will be available afterward. Note that the Q&A is only open to those attending in person.
