Free Green Waste Disposal for District 5 Residents: Saturdays Aug. 29 and Sept. 26
There are two more free green waste Saturdays this fall: August 29 and September 26. These will not be affected by the modifications to services and hours at the Ben Lomond transfer station due to the facility’s upcoming renovation.
To facilitate community home hardening and wildfire fuel reduction efforts, Supervisor Monica Martinez has announced no-cost green waste disposal days for residents of the San Lorenzo Valley and unincorporated area of Scotts Valley. District 5 residents are encouraged to take advantage of this special opportunity to affordably dispose of green waste at the Ben Lomond Transfer Station.
Program details
- Participants must be residents of the unincorporated area of District 5, and green/yard waste must be generated from the cleanup of their residential property.
- Two-ton maximum per load. No dump trucks or roll-off/drop-boxes will be admitted.
- Standard yard waste size and material restrictions apply.
- No appointment needed.
- Self-haulers: Proof of residency required. Contractors: Affidavit required.
If you’re hiring someone to haul your yard waste, you’ll need to provide them with a signed affidavit confirming they are hauling on your behalf. Transfer Station staff will collect and verify affidavits at the gate. A separate affidavit is required for each load.
