Tae’s Edo Sushi Celebrates Dedicated Following
Santa Cruz Mountains Dining Treasure
By Julie Horner
Longtime sushi chef and food and beverage professional Tae Song has anchored Edo Sushi in Boulder Creek for more than 11 years. An elevated dining treasure among the burgers and tacos in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Tae honors his original sushi chef Jay Ham, and his hard working staff, as well as a cadre of dedicated locals who have dined in and taken out consistently since day one as crucial to the success of the establishment. Located at the north end of town at the bridge overlooking Boulder Creek, Tae has curated a clean and cozy dining space with modern flare. Nestled among the redwoods and out of the way of big summer crowds and impossible parking, Edo Sushi is the go-if-you-know place to take a date and meet up with friends and family for an exotic taste experience.

Always fun, take a seat at the bar and watch chefs create colorful hand-rolls. Tae says popular choices include the Highway 9 Roll, a deep-fried offering with yellowtail, cream cheese, and avocado inside, tobiko and imitation crab meat (whitefish) outside. Or the refreshing Alaska Roll featuring imitation crab meat and cucumber inside topped with salmon, avocado, and lemon slices. The Yami Yami Roll is another customer favorite with deep-fried yellowtail inside and assorted fresh fish mixed with a special house spicy sauce outside. And the Santa Cruz Roll with its crab meat, cucumber, and avocado filling wrapped with salmon and tuna and topped with deep-fried scallops. Or savor the subtle flavors of succulent sashimi, a Japanese delicacy featuring select sliced raw fish like albacore, melt-in-your-mouth Hamachi (yellowtail tuna), Ono (wahoo fish), and salmon served on a bed of daikon radish and garnished with edible Shiso leaves.

Diverse menu options also include deep-fried tempura vegetables, bento boxes, and other cooked fare, flavorful seaweed salad and miso soup, traditional hot and cold sake, and specialty dessert offerings. Open Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays from 4pm – 8pm, and Friday, Saturday & Sunday for lunch 1pm – 3pm and dinner 4pm – 8pm. Takeout available.
Tae says, “Come and enjoy our cozy and elegant ambiance with your loved ones. We are committed to providing exceptional service and great food, making your visit unforgettable.”
