Gripping New Radio Horror-Drama ‘Wolf Creek’ to Premiere on KBCZ

KBCZ 89.3 FM Boulder Creek Community Radio presents a truly gripping “cinematic” listening experience as the highly anticipated radio drama Wolf Creek makes its official debut on the air. Written, produced, and sound designed by Darren Lee — a local KBCZ DJ, sound producer, engineer, and creative — this immersive audio fiction series promises to captivate audiences with its dark atmosphere and complex storytelling.

Wolf Creek spans five episodes, each roughly 15 minutes long. The series offers a dark, modern twist on traditional werewolf mythology, weaving a complex web of suspense and betrayal. The narrative centers on a sinister plot orchestrated by an evil scientist who is determined to systematically eliminate a specific family’s ancient bloodline. Wolf Creek features intense themes, suspense, and a mature narrative content.

The production brings together a stellar cast of 16 local people, featuring a veteran ensemble of KBCZ DJs alongside San Lorenzo Valley (SLV) community members. Together with Darren Lee’s cinematic sound engineering and meticulously constructed foley art, the vocal performances transport listeners directly into the dangerous, shadow-filled world of the story.

“We created a listening experience that modernizes the traditional radio drama,” says Darren Lee. “Wolf Creek isn’t just a radio story you listen to; it’s an auditory environment that surrounds you. By combining the incredible voice talents of our local DJs and SLV community members with a layered, emotionally driven sound design, we’ve created a suspenseful experience that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats. I call it a “buttered popcorn” listening experience, and I’m very honored to have had such a talented cast to work with.”

5 episodes: Fridays, October 2 through Halloween at 7pm. Streaming at kbcz.org.
