Town Hall to Focus on Road Repairs and Recovery in the San Lorenzo Valley
BEN LOMOND — San Lorenzo Valley residents will have a chance to get the latest updates on local road conditions, storm recovery efforts, and upcoming transportation projects at a public Town Hall hosted by Supervisor Monica Martinez on Thursday, November 13, at 6 pm.
The event, called the District 5 “State of the Roads” Town Hall, will take place at the Highlands Park Senior & Community Center in Ben Lomond (8500 Highway 9). It’s open to all residents of District 5, which includes the San Lorenzo Valley and parts of Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley.
Supervisor Martinez is partnering with the County of Santa Cruz Community Development & Infrastructure Department (CDI) to bring together several local, county, and state agencies for an evening of updates and discussion.
“This is an important opportunity for residents to learn directly from the agencies maintaining our roads and improving safety across our communities,” Martinez said. “When I took office, I pledged to prioritize safer, more reliable roads and better communication with the public. This Town Hall is one way we are delivering on that commitment — ensuring residents have the information, access, and progress they deserve.”
Panelists will include representatives from:
- County of Santa Cruz Community Development & Infrastructure – Public Works Division
- Caltrans District 5
- Santa Cruz County Office of Response, Recovery & Resilience (OR3)
- Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office
- Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC)
- California Highway Patrol (CHP)
Attendees can expect presentations on current and upcoming road projects, storm preparedness, and new tools for reporting issues or checking road conditions. A Q&A session will follow the presentations.
While questions about traffic enforcement will not be addressed at this event, residents are encouraged to come prepared with other road-related concerns or feedback.
