The Ripple Effect Arts Festival Comes to Life in Felton
As part of the new Ripple Effect Arts Festival, the San Lorenzo Valley will host a deeply moving and socially impactful exhibition rooted in compassion, storytelling, and community connection.
Presented by the San Lorenzo Valley Museum and the Felton Library Friends, “The Road I Call Home” brings the work of renowned humanitarian and award-winning photographer Randy Bacon to Felton. This powerful exhibition will be on view April 18 through September 20 at the Museum’s Belardi Memorial Gallery and the Felton Library, creating a shared, accessible experience across two central community spaces.
Portraits of Humanity
“The Road I Call Home” documents the lives of 32 men, women, and children experiencing homelessness through striking portraiture and deeply personal narratives. Each photograph is paired with a firsthand story, offering insight into the lived experiences behind the images.
Some stories are uplifting, others heartbreaking, but all serve a common purpose: to foster empathy and compassion. Rather than focusing on the broader issue of homelessness alone, the exhibition invites visitors to see each individual as a person with dignity, identity, and a story worth hearing.
By giving voice to individuals too often overlooked, the exhibition challenges viewers to connect on a human level and reconsider how they see and understand their neighbors. As Randy Bacon explains, “The goal of this project is to bring awareness to our homeless community and convey one simple message. That we’re all people and every single one of us matters.”
A Community-Focused Experience
The exhibition’s dual-location format reflects a commitment to accessibility and community engagement. By spanning both the Belardi Memorial Gallery and the Felton Library, the experience reaches a broader audience, welcoming visitors who may encounter the work in different contexts, from a traditional gallery setting to a familiar civic space.
This partnership exemplifies the mission of the Ripple Effect Arts Festival: to create meaningful, collaborative arts experiences that ripple outward, sparking conversation, connection, and understanding across the community.
