March Astrology: Hope and Dreams in Focus

March Skies Ask Us to Take a Chance on Ourselves

By Catie Cadge, PhD

March is an exciting month for those working on making hopes and dreams a reality. Spring is in the air and warm days at the beach or in the redwoods open our hearts to Jupiter’s jovial bliss. Jupiter loves being in Pisces, and the big gaseous planet is cruising fast though the sign. We feel deeply the emotional, sensitive, and intuitive watery mood of Pisces as the Sun is also there. But we have a lot going on in air and earth signs as well this month, so we talk, plan, and design how to implement the best course of action.

The month opens with a powerful New Moon in Pisces at 12°07’ the morning of March 2nd Pacific time. A moment of deep reflection; we seek a vision, a spiritual quest. The New Moon conjuncts Jupiter and sextiles Uranus in Taurus, awakening us to ways to make our spiritual beliefs and values real. Mercury in Aquarius conjunct Saturn graces us with innovative but practical ideas. What compassionate steps can we take to connect in oneness, to unite and to help heal the Earth? What kind of mystic are we meant to be? Mystics can take many forms; those who do Divine work for peace, healing, and justice, for a better, sustainable planet. Then there are the mystical writers, the artists, the musicians who feed our souls with Piscean flights of creative juju! All of us, mystics. What truly opens us up to the Divine?

Mars and Venus together conjunct Pluto in late Capricorn on March 3rd, then both continue to dance together when they enter into Aquarius on the 5th for the exact conjunction at 0°02’. The Sun triggers Jupiter as well. Be bold and strategic when working with others, but sensitive too. A bit of a cosmic balancing act. Don’t allow control issues to seep into our relationships, rather respect each other’s personal freedom and genius. Strive for common goals without compromising our own dreams. We all have something to bring to the table!

March 9th, Mercury begins the journey through Pisces. In “old school” astrology, Mercury is considered weak in this dreamy and nebulous sign. In evolutionary astrology, we disagree. Sometimes facts seem unclear; Mercury in Pisces reinforces the lack of Piscean boundaries and clarity evident in mundane astrology of 2022, with both Jupiter and Neptune in the sign. Just follow the media and examples abound. But we can take the evolutionary high road now and let our imaginations and fantasies enrich our creative expression. Also listen to Piscean omens such as messages that come to us in unorthodox and psychic ways.

The Virgo Full Moon, 27°40’, trines Pluto in Capricorn in the wee hours of the morning, March 18th. What a grounding time for making our practical work and service come to manifestation. Check your birthchart to see where Pluto in Capricorn is currently transiting to see what areas of life are being “deconstructed,” wiped away with shadow work so you can rise like the phoenix. The Moon asks, how can you fine-tune this process? What needs to be restructured and perfected? Time to master your skills.

The BIG news of March is the spring equinox, when the Sun enters Aries, 8:33 am, March 20th. Happy International Astrology Day! We burst into springtime with the fire and passion of Aries season. Vernal equinox, equal “day” and equal “nox,” marks the start of the tropical zodiacal calendar, when everything starts anew. Aries is about courage. A zest for life! We all feel a need to be “reborn” and with Mercury conjunct Jupiter, dream big and let your spirit soar. By the 22nd, Mars in Aquarius squares Uranus. Watch out for sudden outbursts. Instead seek a time for sudden enlightenment, what the Japanese call satori. The lightbulb of our mind triggers new revelations. March ends with a New Moon in Aries, 11°31’, conjunct Mercury, now also in Aries, and Chiron, the evening of the 31st. Take a chance on yourself. Be the healer. The universe says we need you.
