Love Blooms over Zoom
Beth and Jim Thaxton exchanged wedding vows on Saturday June 13, 2020 at their home in Boulder Creek. The wedding was attended by close friends at social distance and streamed via Zoom to scores of admirers.
“We met at Joe’s in 2018,” Beth said. “Our connection is very strong, and when he proposed on our two-year anniversary, the answer was an enthusiastic YES!” Then the pandemic set in. Reservations at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park had to be cancelled. “Even with all the depression, oppression, and uncertainty we felt it important to stick to our date of June 13th. So the couple moved things online. “The Zoom wedding gave everyone a break from current anxiety. It was a glorious day!”
Jim is an essential worker, Director of Maintenance at Santa Cruz Post Acute Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing, and Beth is a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) architect for Tesla Motors. The couple locally sourced as much as they could for the nuptials, including ordering the cake and catering from Desserts First of Boulder Creek, and having mail-order wedding attire custom fitted by Agz Ragz. “Thankfully the mall opened the week before to purchase wedding bands!”
“The human heart prevails in spite of the pandemic and social unrest. That is the core of who we are.”
