CHP Cracks Down on Speeding, Reckless Driving on Highway 9
BOULDER CREEK, CA — In response to growing concerns from residents, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is launching a targeted enforcement campaign along Highway 9 to curb speeding and reckless driving. The initiative follows a recent Boulder Creek town hall meeting hosted by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, where locals voiced frustration over dangerous driving behaviors on the busy corridor.
Starting this weekend, CHP’s Santa Cruz Area Special Enforcement Units will increase their presence along Highway 9, focusing on speeders and reckless drivers. The goal is to enhance safety for all road users, from Boulder Creek to Felton and beyond.

“Highway 9 is not a racetrack,” said CHP Santa Cruz Commander Captain Grimm. “We will hold offenders accountable for excessive speed and reckless driving to ensure our roads are safe.”
Residents of Boulder Creek, Brookdale, Ben Lomond, and Felton can expect to see more CHP officers patrolling the area. The CHP urges drivers to obey traffic laws, slow down, and prioritize safety.
This enforcement effort underscores the agency’s commitment to addressing community concerns and maintaining secure roadways throughout Santa Cruz County.
