A New Sheriff in Town: Meet Deputy David Madison

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff Department Boulder Creek Service Center welcomes Deputy David Madison as our new Community Policing Services contact. He replaces Caitlin McBride who has been promoted to Sergeant. Sgt. McBride said, “I am now supervising a patrol team, and I’m no longer in the valley. My office is at our main headquarters in Live Oak, and I just respond to calls throughout the county as needed.” With Deputy Madison at the helm, Sgt. McBride said, “Boulder Creek is in good hands.”

The Sheriff’s Department operates six community service centers on the north Central Coast: Boulder Creek, San Lorenzo Valley, Live Oak/Soquel, Aptos, and South County. These stations serve as a liaison between law enforcement and the public to proactively address local issues. Deputy Madison said, “I am excited because it gives me the ability to spend time with members of the community to reach long term resolutions to the community’s concerns.” Deputy Madison has been employed with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department since 2017 and has worked in the jail and on patrol. He said, “My time on patrol started in 2020 and I have primarily worked here in the San Lorenzo Valley, which is why this position is such a good fit for me.”

Deputy Madison is on-shift generally Tuesday-Friday patrolling the Valley and Davenport; service center hours vary.
