Santa Cruz based Reggae outfit Revelation Chant performs at the Historic Brookdale Lodge on Thursday, September 21 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Emmanuel Selassie is a spiritually charged Reggae band established in 1994 in Santa Cruz, California. With Selassie’s deep love for reggae and spiritualism—he’s a Rastafarian—and his laid-back demeanor, he was made for Santa Cruz. Selassie is one of the founders of the San Francisco Bay area reggae band, I-Groove. You will find that his songs send a strong spiritual message that will speak to your soul. His album “Audio Spiritual” is a true Rasta experience, from the original cover art by Larry Lott to the profound lyrics written and composed by Emmanuel. He also has an album called “That’s Yes I.”

According to the Good Times, “His music is driven by his commitment to Rastafarianism, so much so that even his name Emmanuel Selassie—his spiritual name—means ‘God with us and the power of the trinity.’”

“I think all creation is some sort of praise for emulating the Creator,” Selassie says. “And we’re making our own creation in the image of God. Everything I create is inspiration from the creator.”

Selassie also adds jazz-fusion elements to his performances and is known locally as a sound engineer and hired gun to sit in with other area musicians. You’re in for a treat with catchy melodies, rhythms, and guitarwork that will leave you spellbound.
