The Funkanauts

The Historic Brookdale Lodge and Mountain Music Productions present the legendary outfit, The Funkanauts on Friday, June 23 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
The Funkanauts was founded by guitarist Jason Collins in the Berkeley-Oakland area in the mid-80s when Collins bonded with bassist Ace Allan. They began performing in clubs and festivals throughout the Bay Area and California. They’ve also toured abroad and opened for national touring bands like Tower Of Power, Ohio Players and Atlantic Starr and others.
The band has broken up and reformed since then and emerged from the COVID pandemic with a renewed sense of purpose. This purpose is evident in their new recording, BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING EARTH (B.I.B.L.E.); considered a modern funk classic. Collins has also extended the Funkanauts legacy with the inclusion of his son, Kyle, on drums. They are also joined by longtime percussionist Rick Campbell.
