SUMMARY:New Year's Eve with the China Cats Grateful Dead Tribute
DESCRIPTION:New Year’s Eve in Santa Cruz. Ring in the New Year 2024 with the China Cats Grateful Dead tribute and jam band goodness on Sunday\, December 31 starting at 8:00 pm!\n\nEarly ticket discounts\, make plans to join the celebration in the beautiful vintage ballroom at the Santa Cruz Veterans Memorial Chris G. Matthews Hall:\n\n$45 | All Ages\nTickets: https://bit.ly/3qLqFHj\n\nThe China Cats are the Bay area’s premiere Grateful Dead Tribute band\, performing with the same lineup of players for more than 14 years. They competently play over 200 songs the Grateful Dead performed during their career.\n\n“One of the premier tribute bands in Northern California. The group has spent years infusing the classic sensibilities of the Dead’s catalog with their own flair and energy” – Good Times\, Santa Cruz\n\n“The China Cats aren’t a cover band\,” says Nicholas Meriwether\, archivist of the Grateful Dead collection at UC Santa Cruz. “They approach the Dead’s work with the same kind of reverence and sophistication that the Dead themselves showed in their own forays into American roots music. “When you listen to the Cats\,” Meriweather adds\, “old favorites take on new lives\, revealing facets that will delight and amaze even jaded listeners. These guys aren’t copycats — their sets demonstrate how the Dead’s music now is a part of the great American songbook\, alongside the giants who first inspired the Dead.”\n\n“Thank you for the terrific performance on the Church Street Stage! You were great and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed your performance. It was all we hoped for.” – Ellen Primick\, Cabrillo Music Festival\n\nArtist sights and sounds:\nWebsite: www.thechinacats.com\nFacebook: www.facebook.com/thechinacats

DESCRIPTION:Monday\, Jan. 15\, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM\nCascade Ranch\, 3100 Cabrillo Hwy\, Pescadero \nJoin Pie Ranch and Amah Mutsun Land Trust to remove eucalyptus saplings and other invasive species from Cascade Creek on Año Nuevo Point! \nPie Ranch and Amah Mutsun Land Trust are seeking volunteers to help to remove young exotic invasive eucalyptus trees from Cascade Creek on Año Nuevo Point. Eucalyptus saplings have become established densely since the 2020 CZU wildfire\, and without removal they will crowd out native streamside vegetation and create a significant fire hazard. We will also be removing other invasive plant species and tending native willows that are being propagated along the creek to work towards enhancing the ecosystem and increasing populations of native plants. \nSpend time outdoors\, meet new people\, learn about invasive plants and creek habitats\, and help us to care for the ancestral lands of the Quiroste Tribe. This event will also be a great opportunity to learn about how Indigenous perspectives and approaches to land stewardship are being revitalized in open spaces today. \nTo register for the event:
