The new EP\, by Joe Waters and The Back Porch Band\, shows off Joe’s skills as a musician as well as his skills as a songwriter. This is an intimate local talent showcase not to be missed. Musicians from all over Santa Cruz County have discovered this fun evening of great music\, tall tales\, and togetherness in the mountains. Duos\, solos\, spoken word…this audience loves it all! Sign ups are from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.\n\nEveryone who signs up is encouraged to bring their own acoustic guitar. If your acoustic has a pickup\, we will hook you into a Direct-In box. Percussionists\, please bring hand drums only. Instruments will not be provided\, but you can certainly ask someone if they will lend you theirs if needed\, but it’s up to the owner if he or she is willing. Also\, if you need an accompaniment musician\, there is no harm in asking others to join you.\n\nAbout your host:\n\nPeace\, Love\, and Rock-n-Roll! Pablo Eagle is a Boulder Creek local known for his soulful songwriting often paying homage to his Native American roots\, and heartfelt rockin’ covers. He is a mainstay in the Santa Cruz Mountains and all over Santa Cruz as the front man for the legendary band Medicine Road. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Zayante Fire Station Open House!\n\nEnjoy station and engine tours – take photos with the kids.\n\nFree hot dogs\, chips\, and soda.\n\nAt 11am\, the station will conduct a test of its new Siren system.\n\nThe Zayante Fire Protection District has completed renovation of an outdoor Emergency Notification Siren System (ZENSS).\n\nThe system will be used to warn residents\, visitors\, and those passing through of an imminent need to evacuate. The system will add an additional layer of emergency notification redundancy when our area experiences power and internet connnectivity outages.\n\nMonthly testing will occur on the 1st Saturday of every month at 11 am beginning with this October 7 test run in recognition of National Fire Prevention Month.\n\nThe purpose of monthly testing is to ensure that the siren is functioning effectively and to increase awareness of the importance of personal emergency preparedness.\n\nSiren testing will sound for one (1) minute with a wailing tone (high to low tones).
